Educazione per tutti i bambini. Un obiettivo possibile

Sono centinaia di migliaia i bambini e le bambine nel mondo che non hanno la possibilità di andare a scuola o che l’abbandonano dopo pochi anni. Rispetto ai maschi, le femmine sono le più penalizzate, con conseguenze pesanti sul loro sviluppo psico-fisico ma anche su quello delle comunità di appartenenza. E’ infatti ampiamente riconosciuto che il progresso civile, sociale ed economico di un paese è strettamente collegato al tasso di alfabetizzazione della popolazione, in special modo di quella femminile. Dunque è di fondamentale importanza che tutti i bambini, e in particolare le bambine, possano ricevere un’adeguata istruzione. Un obiettivo che a oggi, Giornata Internazionale dell’Alfabetizzazione, non è stato ancora raggiunto in molte aree della terra.

Hundreds of thousands of boys and girls around the world do not have the opportunity to go to school or drop out after only a few years. Compared to males, females are the most penalised, with serious consequences on their psycho-physical development but also on that of the communities to which they belong. In fact, it is widely recognised that the civil, social and economic progress of a country is closely linked to the literacy rate of its population, especially of its female population. It is therefore of paramount importance that all children, and especially girls, are able to receive an adequate education.
