Nell’ambito del progetto Praesidium, in convenzione con il Ministero dell’Interno e in partenariato con l’United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), l’International Organization for Migration e la Croce Rossa Italiana, Save the Children Italia aveva il compito di di monitorare gli standard di accoglienza e rispetto delle procedure a tutela dei minori all’interno delle comunità alloggio per minori stranieri non accompagnati presenti sul territorio siciliano, con particolare riferimento alle comunità che hanno accolto i minori in arrivo da Lampedusa e dalle coste siciliane, per assicurarsi che le procedure e gli standard di accoglienza fossero conformi a quelli internazionali, quali la Convenzione ONU sui diritti dell'infanzia.
As part of the Praesidium project, in agreement with the Ministry of the Interior and in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration and the Italian Red Cross, Save the Children Italy had the task of monitoring the standards of reception and compliance with procedures for the protection of minors within the housing communities for unaccompanied foreign minors present in the Sicilian territory, with particular reference to the communities that hosted minors arriving from Lampedusa and the Sicilian coast, to ensure that the procedures and standards of reception were in line with international ones, such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
