From Camp to Community: Liberia study on exploitation of children

Il popolo liberiano ha subito continue sofferenze negli ultimi due decenni, a causa della guerra e dello sfollamento. I bambini ne sono stati coinvolti in molti modi, come il reclutamento nelle forze armate, la separazione dalle loro famiglie, l'essere testimoni di atrocità, stupri e torture. Migliaia di persone sono state costrette a lasciare le loro case e a rifugiarsi nei paesi vicini o nei campi per sfollati interni (IDP) in Liberia. Questo report si concentra sui bambini rimasti in quei campi e su quelli che sono stati recentemente rimpatriati nelle loro città e villaggi di origine dopo la fine della guerra.

The people of Liberia have experienced ongoing suffering over the past two decades as a result of war and displacement. Children have been drawn into this in many ways, such as recruitment into armed forces, separation from their families, witnessing atrocities, rape and torture. Thousands have been driven from their homes into exile into neighbouring countries or camps for internally displaced people (IDPs) within Liberia. This study focuses on children remaining in those camps and those who have recently been repatriated to their towns and villages of origin after the end of the war.
